Order April 6 Bus Tickets Now!

Order your $15 bus and lunch tickets for the big April 6th coalition march, rally, and lobby day in Austin from the Texas State Employees Union.

The April 6th march, rally, and lobby day was originally called by Texas State Employees Unions (TSEU). The big coalition, www.txforward.org, had another day, but they apparently decided to go in with TSEU on April 6. So it became the main day for the fight to save Texas from its legislature.

TSEU plans a sign-making party at their Austin offices and at the Dallas office, 737 S RL Thornton (Hi Way 35 to Waco) on April 3rd. From downtown Dallas, exit 425C Marsalis/Dallas Zoo.

The plan for April 6 is to meet everyone at Austin's Waterloo Park and march to the Capitol starting at 11 AM. It's on 12th street just about 4 blocks east of the Capitol. I think the entrance to "Capitol Parking" is also on 12th.

The Texas Forward coalition is large, and several of its constituents are planning their own transportation from North Texas. I have learned that the Texas Organizing Project (TOP) has two buses going. They are leaving, I believe, from Lancaster & Ledbetter in the Southern part of Dallas, at 6 AM that day. CWA 6215 is organizing two buses, I believe, and one of them departs from UAW 848 at 6 AM that day. T.C. Gillespie of CWA 6201 in Ft Worth has at least one bus going. Teamsters Local 745 is sending their own bus.

The Committee for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP), who initiated the Texas Forward Coalition, is doing their own fund raising and bus-sign-up campaign on-line. I think they are using the TSEU buses.
I called the State TSEU office, and was told that the best way to help is to sell $15 tickets (including lunch) for their buses. They presently have several buses with these departure points:

Vernon Bus Leaves Wal-Mart (3800 Hwy 287 W) at 1:45 AM

Wichita Falls bus Leaves Parole Office (3100 Seymour Hwy) at 3:15 AM

Ft Worth buses Leave Resource connection (1501 Circle Dr Parking Lot D, I20 at Campus Dr exit) at 5:45 AM

Dallas buses Leave Family Planning Services office at 8700 N Stemmons Fwy (I35E at Empire Central exit) at 5:45 AM

Dallas Parole Bus (for Parole Members only) leaves Dallas DRC 91010 Cadiz St at 5:45 AM

I made a list of the many other activities leading up to April 6th. Tthe most important one so far is the Tarrant County AFl-CIO rally at 11 AM at Burnett Park in downtown Ft Worth.
