Congress is getting ready to ignore the tax giveaways to rich people and cut the living heck out of poor people. Expect a vote very soon. An invigorated (or frightened or disgusted) American populace is rising up against these anti-people policies. Under tremendous popular pressure President Bush reversed his decision to slash wages for Gulf Coast workers and let his Supreme Court nominee withdraw from consideration! Act soon to save Medicaid, food stamps, foster care, child support collections, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI, for poor elderly and disabled). A big vote may happen November 7 or 8.

Texas voters finish on November 8, but they can be early voting now through November 4. The State AFL-CIO has asked people to vote "no" on Proposition 2.

Wal-Mart continues to draw fire for anti-worker policies. Expect to see some kinds of actions a lot between now and December 10, International Human Rights Day. Many activists feel that Wal-Mart personifies the problems of lowering wages and unfair international trade deals. Join us Saturday, October 29, at 10 AM at 3159 Garland Rd in Garland. Watch

It seems unlikely that the United Auto Workers will let GM and Delphi workers take giant cuts without some kind of national fight back, so keep one ear to the ground.
