Community Leaders Gear Up to Help Walmart Employees

Johnny RodriguezJohnny Rodriguez, President of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 540 in Dallas, invited Jobs with Justice and other progressive leaders to his union hall on May 24. They were there to find ways to boost the drive to organize Walmart workers into their own association, "OUR WALMART." Thirty-three activists attended.

The immediate situation is a strike May 30-June 7 that will include going to Bentonville, Arkansas, to attend a stockholders meeting. But North Texans are interested in a long-run effort that may go beyond any one action. We can also:
