Congresswoman Joins Others in Fight to Save Social Security

Even before Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson presents her views on Social Security at the CWA Hall, 1408 N Washington, at 2 PM on Friday, March 4; she has apparently accepted another speaking engagement. The following announcement was just received:

From: Dallas County Democratic Party
Date: 03/03/05 18:46:39
Subject: Social Security Town Hall Meeting

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson will be providing a Social Security
Town Hall meeting this Sunday, March 6, at 6 PM. This meeting is open to
the public and will include guest speakers Mary Scott, AARP National Board
Member and Claude Watson from the Committee to Preserve Social Security and
Medicare.

Please join us in discussing this very important topic.

The facts are strong:

  • 1. Social Security is not in immediate danger

  • 2. Even if it were, privatization would not help

  • 3. Bush's "solution" would actually make our economic situation, especially the deficit, much worse

  • 4. There are many simple methods to get more funds into Social Security when needed. Privatization is not "the only solution;" it isn't a solution at all!
