Who Are We?

National Jobs with Justice Mission Statement:
" Jobs with Justice is building a strong, progressive labor movement that works in coalition with community, faith and student organizations to build a broader global movement for economic and social justice."

Jobs with Justice leadership met with Workers Rights Board activists on April 4.

We heard:

A report on efforts to get justice for construction workers
A report from the national strategic planning meeting

We reviewed our ongoing efforts to win the right to organize by pushing for the Employee Free Choice Act in Congress:

One letter-to-editor in Dallas paper
Lots of information dissemination on the web and in local publications
About 500 endorsement cards collected
We have disseminated literature and buttons
Eleven groups have been spoken to directly
And we have several pending and one scheduled

We need to do more:

Expand our Speakers’ Bureau for Workers Rights. Any volunteers?
Expose the “human face” of workers victimized under present labor law
Continue mass e-mail and web work, but use U.S. postal mail as well
Set up more public events, including indoor meetings and a picket line
Continue to work on the ongoing organizing drives in our area
Ask more people to look for opportunities to utilize commercial media such as op-eds and letters-to-editors
Gather endorsements and endorsement statements from faith leaders

The Dallas Area Christian Progressive Alliance [kim@matthew-25.ccsend.com] is promoting the annual Good Friday march to highlight the real meaning of the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Friday, April 10, 9:45am to 11:30am. Gather at Lake Cliff Park in North Oak Cliff, (corner Colorado and Zang), walk across the Trinity River, and end at Ferris Plaza in downtown Dallas. More info at
