Learn and Do Wednesday Evening

We'll have a "new" meeting place for Jobs with Justice June 10 at 7 PM. We'll be back at our old familiar corner, UAW 848 hall, 2218 East Main in Grand Prairie, where our chapter started 29 years ago. It's a long drive from Garland, but it's closer for our friends in Arlington and Ft Worth.

Those organizing daredevils, the Wal-Mart workers, have offered to show a short video about their new national effort. This is the most exciting development in a long time, and we can be extremely helpful. Of course, this program dovetails completely with our struggle for Employee Free Choice.

We won't just be celebrating our two successful May actions; we'll be planning some more. National Jobs with Justice has asked that we discuss the economic situation and what kinds of activities we might generate in North Texas that would help solve the national crisis for working Americans.

The Teachers are about to have their convention, and retirees meet in Washington DC next week. The better informed we are, the more successful we will be.

On KNON at 8:05 tomorrow morning, I'm hosting Ed Sills, Communications Director of Texas AFL-CIO. He'll catch us up on what happened in the legislature and what it means for working people. Next week, I'll do labor history with Dr Bob Uzzel on Wednesday, and that will be my last Wednesday radio show. KNON 89.3 is moving me to Mondays 7-8 AM starting June22.

Love & solidarity
