Brother Kenneth Stretcher of SEIU Local 100 reports that supporters of a new Living Wage ordinance in DAllas met with District 14 Dallas City Councilperson Angela Hunt on June 4. Local 100 members Whaylon Howard, Lenell Hamillton, James Forntenberry, Bernard Lee, Charles Henderson, Jackie Simmons and Tim Simpson discussed a Living Wage for employees of Contractors in the city of Dallas. Also present were Francisco Nunez, Martin Ramirez, Adrian Magullanes and Robert Zamores, Ironworkers from Jobs with Justice, and Two Acorn attendees who are not pictured.
The plan is to shoot for $8.16 this year, $10.00 next year and
a living Wage the subsequent year which is being calculated by a graduate public
policy class at UTA.
